FAQ
Brand Story
What inspired Raja Doggo?
Raja Doggo was born from a love of heritage craft and a very good dog named Captain. Each design reflects the beauty of Indian textiles and the belief that our companions deserve comfort and luxury.
Why the name “Raja Doggo”?
“Raja” comes from the Sanskrit rajan, meaning king. “Doggo” is the affectionate term we use for man’s best friend. Together, it’s a nod to nobility, playfulness, and loyalty—everything we love about dogs.
Product & Craftsmanship
Where are Raja Doggo beds made?
Each bed is hand block-printed in India and hand assembled in Brooklyn by a team of upholsterers trusted by the world’s leading auction houses—crafted in small batches as functional and artisanal beds steeped in heritage and design.
What materials do you use?
We use pre-washed, organic cotton and linen blends, all-natural dyes, and shoddy—a refined and recycled fiber filler that reduces environmental impact. Every fabric is sourced responsibly and meant to age gracefully.
What is shoddy?
Shoddy is a responsibly upcycled textile filler made from pre- and post-consumer fabric scraps that would otherwise go to waste. Soft yet supportive, it gives new life to discarded materials and aligns with our commitment to thoughtful, circular design.
Why does my bed look slightly different from the photos?
Our textiles are hand-printed and naturally finished, so subtle variations in color, weave, or dimension are part of their beauty. Each bed carries its own character—no two are exactly alike.
How durable are Raja Doggo beds?
Raja Doggo beds are made using organic, low-impact materials. That means they may not have the same industrial durability as mass-produced beds, but that’s by design. We choose nature over plastic, and quality over permanence whenever possible. These beds are meant to be lived with and loved, softening and shaping naturally with time—like a well-made linen chair or vintage quilt.
Will the bed flatten with use?
Our fills settle slightly with time. A quick fluff or light steam will restore volume and comfort—much like a sofa cushion that finds its perfect form.

Care & Cleaning
How should I care for my Raja Doggo bed?
Spot clean with a mild product.
Air dry out of direct sunlight.
Lightly steam to re-energize the filling and cotton fabric.
For a deeper refresh, cold wash gently and air dry flat.
Our fabrics are natural and organic, which means they appreciate a little extra care. Over time, they soften and develop a lived-in patina—the kind of beauty that only comes from honest materials and everyday use.
Is it machine-washable?
Our beds are not designed for frequent machine washing. Spot cleaning and gentle airing will help preserve the structure, texture, and integrity of the natural fibers.
Are Raja Doggo beds good for puppies?
They’re best suited for dogs who are potty-trained and past the teething stage—think of them as heirloom pieces for well-behaved nobles.
Are the fabrics safe for pets?
Yes. We use non-toxic, low-impact dyes and natural fibers that are gentle on paws, fur, and planet. No harsh chemicals, ever.
Sustainability & Sourcing
Are the Raja Doggo beds sustainable?
We prioritize the use of sustainable fabrics throughout our design process. We honor beauty and responsibility while allowing room for the creative choices that support exceptional design.
Our process is rooted in the exclusive use of organic and low-impact materials, crafted through time-honored techniques that minimize waste and celebrate the earth.
From the jump, our fabrics are block-printed using dyes derived from natural elements like indigo, turmeric, jaggery, and alum—each chosen for its beauty, authenticity, and environmental harmony.
Yuca glue is used as a natural adhesive to create durable, double-bonded fabric, while shoddy—a down-cycled filler made from reclaimed textiles—gives new life to materials that would otherwise go to landfill.
Every stage, from hand-printing to final upholstery, is guided by a commitment to longevity, responsibility, and respect for the earth.
Do you support local communities?
Absolutely. Each bed supports independent artisans in India and small-scale makers in New York—keeping craft, community, and conscious production at the heart of what we do.
